World Destruction 03:How to break out of prison

...or bear jokes, anyone?
Episode 03: Two Men in the World
More Screencaps from World Destruction 03

We do not quite know why but somehow, our three friends find themselves prisoners of a miser Wolfman. It seems the Wolfman has heard of their escapades as the World Destruction Committee (and he has also seen their wanted posters) and so now he plans to give them up to the World Salvation Committee...for moolah, of course. Naja is more than happy to oblige though Ri-A has other ideas.

The prison turns out to be a mining post. Interestingly enough, only Morte is made to do all the mining stuff while Kirie is assigned to the kitchen and Toppi gets to mop the floors. Not that she needs special treatment. She proves she can handle her own in a place full of ruffians and thugs. As a matter of fact, her reputation precedes her and she finds that just one look from her and everybody cowers.
never underestimate the bear

Naturally, some sort of escape plan is in order. Morte, being the de facto leader of the group, figures one out for the three of them, which involves Toppi digging a tunnel connecting to the guardroom where the keys are kept. Some funny bear jokes here because, according to Kirie, bears have uncanny digging skills since they have to dig into caves for hibernation. Morte latches on to this and uh, convinces Toppi to do it. Toppi ish adorable! And of course, he refuses to perform such a lowly act, yet somehow ends up doing it anyway because, you know, Morte.

Meanwhile, Morte finds a fellow prisoner being mistreated by one of the guards, a Gorillaman. This prisoner turns out to have a thing with one of the guards. Once this guard sees Morte save the woman prisoner, he gets a change of heart and decides to help the four of them escape through a secret passage.

This guard, of course, has no idea of the three's original plan, so things go wrong and Morte ends up taking him as hostage. Before they can get out though, alarms go off and the guards are alerted of their prison break attempt. The four try to make a run for it but eventually get cornered. Left with no other choice, Morte tests her newfound Eye of Evil power and everybody -- including Kirie and Toppi - step back in mortification. However, at that moment, the Wolfman arrives and orders his minions to shoot.
the bear needs more love

As our three friends scramble about for cover, the woman prisoner from earlier emerges out of the secret passage, shocking everyone into stillness. Eventually, the guards recover from their shock but before they can take action, Morte literally hurls Toppi straight into a beastman, knocking both him and Toppi out. Then, they take this chance to make their break and succeed.

Later, Naja and Ri-A arrive, only to find that their prisoners have escaped. Ri-A goes into berserk mode and the Wolfman becomes the unfortunate end of her rage.
waste of bullets

After their hairy escape from prison, the beastman guard and the woman prisoner decide to go their separate way from Morte and company. Kirie tells them that things might not be so easy for them but the beastman is positive that for as long as he and his girlfriend are together, things would be alright.

Later, Morte notices that the Destruct Code is glowing and she sees a cherryblossom tree in it. This makes her realize that their next destination is the Land of Spring. She sets out into the sunset and this time, without any word, her two companions follow after her.
COMMENTS:

The first thing I noticed about this episode is the subtle downgrade in production value. I don't really mind as Production I.G. still delivered in the important scenes -- and by important, of course, I mean Morte fan service.

I'm still not tired of the bear jokes, so by all means, keep them coming. I love Toppi. He's the loveliest character I've ever seen in an anime. He needs love. And if bear love means bear jokes, then yes, please, I want MOAR. ^.^

Of course, I'm not saying that I don't love the other two characters. Morte is awesome in her own right. And Kirie is an adorable dork.

Well, I'm still enjoying this show, so yeah, still watching and blogging.
