Ghost Hound 20

Focus 20: Shaman's District
More Ghost Hound 20 Screencaps
  • A typhoon has hit Suiten.
  • At the lab, Dr. Reika Otori notices that one of the files in her computer was recently updated.
  • Masayuki is talking with Makoto over the phone, telling him that his Mom is apparently at the Ogami house.
  • Michio is still playing around with the astral projection business when he spots the blue-haired, pierced guy from Reika's lab at the dam. The guy appears to be insane as he throws something into the water below, which causes the spirits to react.
  • Dr. Nakajima watches the news and the story is about the research on biooids in several different countries, which is supposed to change the face of stem cell research. He seems pissed off.
  • Dr. Hirata shows Reika an MRI scan of his brain, showing signs of some form of dementia. He believes that something in Suiten must be causing some mutation in people's brains.
  • In a flashback, Taro sees Miyako and her mother with Noriko, on their way to the Ogami house. He is still unable to say her name. Apparently, Miyako's mother has decided to leave Miyako in the care of the Ogami Worship Circle, since Komagusu is still in a coma. Back to the present, Taro goes out of the brewery house and finds his mother outside, talking to someone who isn't there. She says that Mizuka was just there. Taro's mother then receives a caller, who turns out to be a recruiter from the Ogami Worship Circle.
  • Reika notices the security robot of the lab has been destroyed and deduced immediately that there has been a security breach.
  • As Dr. Nakajima prepares to return to the lab, Masayuki confronts him about his mother being gone. When Dr. Nakajima refuses to discuss the issue, Masayuki decides to go with him to work.
  • Inside the car, Masayuki asks his father for the first time what he is researching on. Dr. Nakajima explains that his biooids are different since they are not what one would call "living." They do not have individual brains and have no capacity to reproduce so they could not be "living." Masayuki begs to differ.
  • Makoto is still in Kumada, watching over his mother. He notices someone lurking nearby only to find that it is Suzuki, who tells him what has been going on in Suiten: about the Ogami Worship Circle, Taro, and the "construction workers."
  • Taro projects into his own brain again and looks for the voice who has always helped him. He thought that it was his sister but the voice, after revealing itself, said that it was someone close to him. It showed him where Taro could find Komagusu.
  • Taro enters a library-like place and finds Komagusu there, happily reading about history and the beginning of the world. Komagusu apparently does not know that he is in Kakuriyo and after Taro explains it to him, the image of the library disappears.
  • Taro and Komagusu make their way to the Ogami house to try and communicate with Miyako. However, Noriko notices them and puts out a powerful curse, forcing Taro and Komagusu out of the house. Komagusu is flung further away than Taro.
  • The old man from the mountains notices the light (from Noriko's curse) coming out of the Ogami house.
COMMENTS:

This episode did not tell a lot of stuff that we don't already know from speculations in earlier episodes. Still, it's a joy to watch that some of our theories have been affirmed and some completely debunked. For one, I really thought the voice in Taro's head is his sister but it turns out it's not. And the blue-haired dude....that was an interesting twist.

There seems to be a lot of strange people in Suiten, seemingly drawn in by the strange things happening.

I wonder if any of the significant events in the story are even connected. It seems rather far-fetched.
