Fall 2009 Anime Short List

This is very short.

Armed Librarians - The Book of Bantorra
OFFICIAL (JPN) OFFICIAL @ Animax (JPN) | ANN | Wikipedia

In a world where dead people turn into books and are stored in the Bantorra Library where anyone who reads a book can learn their past. Bantorra Library is maintained by Armed Librarians who wield psychic powers and their enemy is a religious society known as Sindeki Kyoudan. - ANN

COMMENTS:
I have no idea why I always get drawn to anime shows about librarians. Especially since they don't always work out. Anyhow, I'll try this out. It's by David, who did decent work on Ristorante Paradiso last spring. At any rate, this should at least be interesting, what with the stuff about religion and psychology. I expect some semi-serious psychobabble.

The story takes place in the land of AmberGround, a place of perpetual night only partially illuminated by an artificial sun. Lag Seeing works as a "Letter Bee" (delivery boy) at the "Bee Hive" (a delivery service), with his Dingo, Niche, and her "pet", Steak, traveling with him. He is entrusted with the "hearts" of everyone in AmberGround to deliver their packages. - Wikipedia
COMMENTS:

I kind of like the art style, and the concept seems interesting enough. I have to remember that Xam'd: Lost Memories also had something to do with mail delivery. Ok. Maybe that's stretching it a bit. This is obviously nothing like the former, but it just might turn out to be one of those sleeper hits.

Sawako Kuronuma, called Sadako by her classmates for her resemblance to the character from Ring, has always been feared and misunderstood because of her appearance. There are rumors that Sawako can see ghosts and curse people. But when her idol, popular boy Kazehaya, begins talking with her, everything changes. - Wikipedia
COMMENTS:

Good old-fashioned romance. I gotta have romance in my list, because I can't always be watching heavy-handed political/religious/social commentary stuff or I'll go crazy. This one's the staple "light" anime for the season. It also helps that this is done by Production I.G.
