WATCH: Iteza Gogo Kuji 9 Don't be late! (live 08.24.2008) | Diamond Crevasse (live with talk)
Diamond Crevasse is my favorite anime track as of the moment. I already thought it was a good song the first time I heard it, but after Episode 20, it hit me hard and I am left speechless. The feeling is almost similar to the first time I heard Kuroi Namida performed by Anna Tsuchiya inspi' NANA (Blackstones) for the anime, NANA. It's basically that point of the story and then here comes this song in all its soulful glory and suddenly, everything acquires a whole new meaning and fits perfectly with each other.
While Yoko Kanno gets the credit for composing the track, May Nakabayashi, who sings as Sheryl Nome starring May'n, should get equal credit for adding new dimensions to the song with her voice. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of her voice (too Britney Spears for my taste) but can she deliver emotions to even the most synthetic-sounding tracks or what. In Diamond Crevasse, you can really appreciate that particular quality of hers.
BUY:Now, if Diamond Crevasse puts the soul in this single, Iteza Gogo Kuji 9 Don't be late! caps it off with its almost irreverent pop sparkle and electronica blast. It's a highly infectious track that makes you feel happy and all kinds of excited. Among May'n's more rousing tracks, this one comes only second to What 'bout my Star? but only because the latter is pure pop gem.
